Project Management Knowledge Areas

Now we will discuss the various project management knowledge areas.

Project Integration Management entails collecting and combining all of the project’s various components into a cohesive whole. This comprises creating the Project Management Plan, organising the project team’s actions, and integrating the project’s many components.

Planning, implementing, and controlling the project scope are all aspects of project scope management. This comprises defining the project scope, developing the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), and ensuring that the scope encompasses all project deliverables.

Planning, implementing, and controlling the project schedule are all aspects of project schedule management. This includes creating a project timeline, determining the duration of each project activity, and tracking progress to ensure the project stays on track.

Project Cost Management entails the planning, execution, and control of project costs. Establishing the project budget, tracking project expenditures, and regulating costs to keep within the budget are all part of this.

Project Quality Management entails project planning, execution, and control. Establishing quality standards, ensuring that project deliverables satisfy these requirements, and undertaking quality assurance activities to ensure that the project is of high quality are all part of this.

Project Resource Management entails planning, executing, and controlling project resources such as people, equipment, and other physical assets. Determine resource requirements, acquire and manage resources, and ensure that all project resources are used efficiently.

Project Communications Management entails the planning, execution, and control of project communication, including the selection of communication routes and methods. This includes informing stakeholders about the project, organising project-related information, and ensuring that all project team members are up to date on project developments.

Planning, executing, and regulating project risk control methods are all part of project risk management. This includes identifying and analysing risks, formulating risk response plans, and putting risk-mitigation measures in place.

Project Procurement Management entails project procurement planning, execution, and control. This comprises selecting the procurement method, identifying project needs that may be fulfilled through procurement, and managing the procurement process to ensure that all project needs are met on schedule and within budget.

Planning, executing, and controlling how to best deal with project stakeholders is part of project stakeholder management. Identifying stakeholders, understanding their interests and influence, and establishing strategies for effectively involving stakeholders throughout the project are all part of this.
