Project Management Processes: A Quality-Driven Approach

To use a design for quality approach to correlate project management processes and outcomes throughout the project life cycle, clear project goals and desired outcomes must be established. This entails defining the project’s objectives and desired outcomes, which will be used to assess the project’s success. These outcomes should be communicated to all stakeholders and used to make decisions throughout the project’s life cycle.

After defining the desired outcomes, the next step is to determine the stages of the project life cycle. This includes determining the project’s various phases, such as initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and control, and closure, as well as the key activities and deliverables for each stage.

After that, the project management processes should be assigned to each stage of the project life cycle. This includes assigning the appropriate project management processes to each stage of the project life cycle, such as risk management, quality management, and procurement management. This ensures that the proper processes are in place to support the project’s outcomes.

Another critical step is to identify the critical project management process (PMP) deliverables. PMP deliverables are the results of project management processes and include documents like the project charter, project plan, risk management plan, and others. Determining which PMP deliverables are critical to the project’s success helps to ensure that these deliverables receive the necessary attention and resources.

Monitoring and measuring the key outcomes identified at the start of the project is critical for assessing the project’s progress and health. This entails tracking and measuring project outcomes on a regular basis, such as project schedule, budget, and quality, to ensure that the project is on track to meet its objectives.

Finally, it is critical to keep all stakeholders up to date on the project’s progress. This includes utilising PMP deliverables and outcomes to provide pertinent information to project team members, stakeholders, and the project sponsor. This ensures that all stakeholders are aware of the project’s progress and any issues that may have an impact on the project’s outcomes.

Following these steps allows project managers to deploy project management processes in a design for quality environment while ensuring that project outcomes are consistently aligned with project objectives throughout the project life cycle.
